We love what designer Jonathan Taylor did with the Yhdessa fabric here. Hanging this large panel outside of his home makes such a bold statement. We wish we lived in a climate where we could do something like this-watch out for rain! Buy the fabric here: http://www.marimekkouppereastside.com/yh190wh.html.

The Surrur Book is so inspirational; with over 60 home & clothing projects ranging from easy to slightly challenging you’ll be thinking about how to use Marimekko textiles in a whole new way!

Check out the table clothlet project-who wants a boring rectangular tablecloth?! How fabulous! Check out what the Los Angeles Times had to say about the book. It’s in-store and available to purchase now.

We found this amazing watercolor painting by artist Morin Zasly featuring Marimekko clothing from the Fall 2010 collection and we just had to share! We are always inspired by Marimekko design and we love to see how it inspires others as well!

We love what designer Debra Ferrier has done in this room with the bold Joonas print couches mixed with African elements (giraffes…is that a boar’s head on the mantle?!). The Joonas upholstery fabric is available to order online or in-store. If covering the entire couch is a little too much for you, try throw pillows  in the same print to give your room a little punch! (Photos courtesy of Debra Ferrier Interiors).

Here are some photos from our recent buying trip to Finland of the bag factory in Sulkava, Finland. This factory, which employs 19 people, makes approximately 50,000 classic bags per year (like the Nano, Ad Bag, Olkalaukuu, Mini Olkalaukuu, Arkitehti, Matkuri, Peruskassi, Mini Matkuri, and Mini Peruskassi.) Isn’t it nice in this day and age to see where, how & by whom your products are being made? To shop classic bags, click here.

Marimekko fabrics were featured all throughout the seasons of “Sex and the City”, including the Tantsu fabric used for Carrie’s curtains and Unikko tablcloths at a Hamptons house party. The Marimekko style seems to have stuck with Sarah Jessica Parker as she was seen recently wearing the Regina dress from the Spring 2011 collection. Check out this photo from of Pop Sugar and see all of the pictures here.

Stretching your Marimekko fabric onto a frame is a really easy and fun project; even novices can do it! The end result is a beautiful piece of artwork that is quite inexpensive. Watch the video to see how it is done.

We think this Unikko upholstered chair is fabulous and we hope that it inspires you to make bold decorating decisions in your own home! This iconic pattern was introduced in 1964 and is still fresh today with many different color & scale options available for purchase. Thank you to Impressions Upholstery & Design in Melbourne, Australia for sharing this with us.
